Do you remember wanting to run through plains of Africa with Simba? Disney has just announced that an all new 3D versions of The Lion King will be released in theaters on September 16, 2011. The two-week, 3D-only presentation is a planned wide domestic release and the biggest since the film's 1994 debut and the film's first-ever 3D release. The Lion King Blu-ray would be available on October 4^th, 2011.

The Lion King Blu-ray will have a 2D Blu-ray Combo Pack Diamond Edition, a 4-disc 3D Diamond Edition, and an 8-disc The Lion King Trilogy edition that includes The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride (1998, Darrell Rooney, Rob LaDuca) and The Lion King 1½ (2004, Bradley Raymond) direct-to-video features.
